Before you start

Why take the Study Abroad Psychometric Test, and who is it for?

A psychometric test asks a structured set of questions about what you enjoy, how you like to work and how prepared you are, then turns your answers into a profile. For study abroad, that profile helps with the two choices that cost the most to get wrong: the course and the country. Taking it before you apply means your shortlist starts from you, not from what a friend or an advert chose.

Why take it

  • Pick a course you will finish

Changing course after you land is expensive and can affect your visa. Knowing which fields match your interests lowers that risk.

  • Narrow 13 countries to a few

The report ranks destinations by your budget, goals and readiness, so you research three or four countries instead of all of them.

  • Find your gaps early

English score, a money plan, documents, living alone: the readiness section shows what to work on, with a 90-day plan.

  • Write a stronger SOP

When you can explain why a field suits you, your statement of purpose or Genuine Student answers sound like you, with real reasons.

  • Make counselling faster

Your counsellor starts from your report, so the first session goes straight to shortlisting and costs.

  • Get parents on the same page

A clear profile gives the family something concrete to discuss, instead of opinions about which degree is 'safe'.

Who should take it

  • Class 11 and 12 students

Planning a bachelor's abroad and unsure which subject or country suits them.

  • Graduates planning a master's

Especially if you are thinking of changing field, for example from engineering to business or data.

  • Working professionals

Weighing an MBA or a master's abroad against staying in their job.

  • Parents

Take it with your child, or read the report together before the counselling session.

What it measures

Interests
Six interest types (Holland's framework: practical, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, organised), shown as bars and a three-letter code.
Work style
How you like to learn and work: with people or alone, with structure or freedom, with ideas or with hands-on tasks.
Readiness
English, a plan for money, documents and how ready you feel to live independently in another country.
Fit
Fields of study and countries that suit the answers above, with the next steps for each.

How to use your result

  1. 1Set aside 15 quiet minutes and answer honestly, not as you think you should.
  2. 2Read the report: your interest code, the fields and countries that fit, and the gaps.
  3. 3Discuss it with your parents, then with a counsellor in a free session.
  4. 4Build your shortlist from it, and retake the test if your plans change (results are kept for 180 days).

What it is not

  • It is not a pass or fail exam, and there are no right answers.
  • It is a guidance test, not a standardised aptitude test or a clinical assessment.
  • It does not decide admission, scholarships or visas: marks, budget and documents still matter.

About the Study Abroad Psychometric Test

Is this a psychometric test?

Yes, a guidance psychometric test built on open frameworks: Holland's six interest types and a short work-style scale, plus questions on how ready you are to study abroad. The questions are written by Admission Mantra. It is not a validated clinical or aptitude test, and it doesn't decide admissions or visas.

Who is it for?

Students planning a bachelor's abroad after Class 12, graduates planning a master's, and working professionals thinking about an MBA or a master's abroad. The questions change with your stage.

Will I see the same questions if I take it again?

Mostly not. Each attempt picks questions from a larger pool and puts the ones you saw before last, so a retake shows mostly new questions. Your results should stay similar if nothing has changed: that is how you know they are real.

What happens to my answers?

Your answers stay in your browser. If you ask for the PDF report, only your scores and a short summary are sent to our counsellors, never your individual answers. Students under 18 need a parent's or guardian's mobile number and consent for that.

Is there a test for MBBS abroad or online degrees?

Yes: the MBBS Abroad Psychometric Test and the Online Degree Psychometric Test use the same interests section, so you can reuse that result for 180 days.
