About the university

The University of Worcester is a public university in the cathedral city of Worcester, in the West Midlands of England. It began in 1946 as an emergency teacher training college, gained taught degree-awarding powers in 1997 and became a full university in 2005. It now teaches about 9,000 students across four campuses: St John's, City, Severn and Lakeside.

Worcester is known for teacher education, health and nursing, sport and its Business School. The University says it is first in the UK for sustained employment or further study five years after graduation among multi-subject universities (government Longitudinal Education Outcomes data).

Indian students look at Worcester for one-year Masters in computing, artificial intelligence, cyber security and management, several with an optional 6 or 12 month placement and a January start. Fees are lower than at many larger UK universities, and the University runs automatic India scholarships of £1,000 to £3,000.

Worcester is a compact, walkable city on the River Severn. It is about 45 minutes from Birmingham by train and about 2 hours from London.
