About the university

The University of Strathclyde was founded in 1796 as Anderson's Institution, 'the place of useful learning', and became a university by Royal Charter in 1964. It describes itself as a leading technological university and is known for engineering, business and practical, industry-linked teaching.

Alongside Strathclyde Business School, it has departments of computer and information sciences, mathematics and statistics, and electronic, electrical and mechanical engineering. It was named Daily Mail Research University of the Year 2027.

Indian students look at Strathclyde for one-year master's degrees in data analytics, computer science, AI, finance and engineering, a city-centre campus and fees that sit below many English Russell Group universities. The university publishes a specific Indian entry standard: usually around 60% in a bachelor's degree, with 55% accepted from some universities with stricter marking.

Glasgow is Scotland's biggest city, known for its student scene, live music and almost 90 parks and green spaces. Edinburgh and the Highlands are within a few hours.
