About the university
The University of Staffordshire traces its roots to 1914, when a new college opened in Stoke-on-Trent to support the city's coal mining and ceramics industries. It became Staffordshire Polytechnic, gained university status in 1992 as Staffordshire University, and took its current name in 2024.
The university is best known for games design and development, computing, engineering and health courses. Its main campus in Stoke-on-Trent has a new Student Village, and the Stafford site houses the Centre for Health Innovation with clinical simulation suites.
For Indian students the main draws are moderate fees and a simple scholarship. Most taught master's courses cost £17,700 for the whole one-year course for 2027/28, the MBA costs £16,950, and the Vice Chancellor's Scholarship takes £3,000 off each year of tuition for eligible full-time international students. Many master's courses start in January as well as September.
Stoke-on-Trent is a mid-sized city in Staffordshire with a long history in ceramics manufacture. Living costs are lower than in London, and university rooms with bills included start at £175 a week.
