About the university

The University of Sheffield received its Royal Charter in 1905. It grew out of a medical school founded in 1828, Firth College and the Sheffield Technical School, and is now a member of the Russell Group of research-intensive UK universities.

Sheffield is well known for engineering, computer science and its Management School, whose MBA holds triple accreditation. It offers a wide range of one-year master's courses in data science, AI, robotics, business and finance.

For Indian students, the main draws are a top-100 QS ranking and an automatic £7,000 scholarship for master's students from India in September 2027. Most master's courses cost £34,550 to £37,630 a year, and Class 12 English at 75% (CBSE or CISCE) can replace an English test.

Sheffield is a large city in South Yorkshire. University rooms cost about £151 to £240 a week in 2026/27, including bills.
