About the university
The University of Oxford is the oldest university in the English-speaking world. It is a collegiate university, made up of colleges and permanent private halls as well as university departments, and it can lay claim to nine centuries of continuous existence.
Oxford is ranked 1st in the THE World University Rankings 2027, 4th in the QS World University Rankings 2027 and 2nd in the UK in the Complete University Guide 2027. It has more than 26,000 students, about 44% of them international.
