About the university

The University of Huddersfield became a university in 1992, but its origins go back to 1841. It has five academic schools: Applied Sciences; Arts and Humanities; Business, Education and Law; Computing and Engineering; and Human and Health Sciences.

It is known for practical, career-focused courses, optional placement years and a business school with AACSB accreditation. It ranks 1st in the world for Reduced Inequalities and No Poverty in the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026.

For Indian students the main draws are moderate fees, lower living costs and flexible starts. Most taught master's courses cost £18,700 a year, take one year, and start in September or January, and many business courses also start in May. Merit scholarships of £2,000 or £4,000 are considered automatically.

Huddersfield is a West Yorkshire town between Leeds and Manchester. The university says it is a top 10 UK location for affordable student rent, with halls a few minutes' walk from campus.
