About the university

Scotland's Rural College (SRUC) was formed in 2012 from a group of historic agricultural colleges, the oldest founded in 1899. It teaches and researches agriculture, animal and veterinary science, environment, food and rural business, from campuses across Scotland, including King's Buildings in Edinburgh and Craibstone in Aberdeen. It also runs SAC Consulting and veterinary laboratory services.

For Indian students SRUC has some of the lowest fees in the UK: £17,000 a year for full-time BSc degrees and £20,000 for a full-time taught MSc in 2026/27. Postgraduate applicants need a three- or four-year bachelor's with at least 55%, and SRUC accepts 70–75% in Class 12 English (CBSE, CISCE or a recognised State Board) or an English-medium degree certificate instead of IELTS in many cases. Scholarships of £3,000 to £9,000 are available for international students.

Housing depends on the campus. Aberdeen students can live in the University of Aberdeen's Hillhead Student Village (shared or en suite flats). In Edinburgh, students use independent student residences across the city, whose prices include bills, internet and contents insurance, or rent privately. Barony has two catered hostels and Oatridge has seven residences with more than 200 rooms. SRUC's pages do not list prices.
