About the university

Queen's University Belfast was founded in 1845 as Queen's College Belfast and became an independent university in 1908. It is a member of the Russell Group of research-intensive UK universities.

Queen's is known for medicine, pharmacy, engineering, computer science and cyber security, and for its business school. Its alumni include the Nobel Prize-winning poet Seamus Heaney.

For Indian students the main draws are a Russell Group degree at lower fees than many English universities and lower living costs. Most master's courses ask for a UK 2:2, which Queen's compares to about 53–55% from an Indian university. Business school master's courses list a £10,000 scholarship for September 2027 entry. Queen's also has a campus at GIFT City in Gujarat.

Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland and a compact city. The main campus is in the south of the city, and city-centre halls are about 20 minutes' walk away.
