About the university

Luminate Education Group is a Leeds-based group of seven colleges and higher education providers, renamed from Leeds City College Group in December 2018. International students mainly apply to two of its members: Leeds Conservatoire, a music, drama and musical theatre school at Quarry Hill in central Leeds, and University Centre Leeds. Leeds Conservatoire degrees are validated by the University of Hull, and it plans to apply for its own degree awarding powers.

Leeds Conservatoire publishes international fees for 2027 entry of £21,700 a year for its BA music degrees and £22,150 for its BA drama degrees, and £15,400 to £21,400 for its one-year MAs, listed below. University Centre Leeds is a new probationary Student visa sponsor: its students on a Student visa cannot do paid work and cannot apply for the Graduate route, and its fees are shown only on its course pages, so its courses are not listed here.

      Eligibility: Applicants who show excellence or outstanding potential at audition, or who study a shortage principal study area.

      Value: £3,000 off tuition each year (2027 entry)

      Eligibility: International applicants on full-time degrees starting September 2027, applied automatically by country of residence.

    Admission requirements

    Undergraduate

    • Leeds Conservatoire BA: 96 UCAS tariff points from level 3 study or equivalent, usually including music or acting-related study, plus English at GCSE grade C/4 or an equivalent such as IELTS 6.0 (5.5 in each part). Ask the conservatoire how it reads Class 12 marks.
    • Entry is by audition or online interview. Leeds Conservatoire does not charge audition fees.

    Postgraduate

    • A good honours degree, usually a 2:2 or above, in a related subject; professional experience can be assessed instead through APEL.
    • Applicants submit a portfolio or audition and, if successful, attend an online interview.
    • 50% of tuition fees must be paid before a CAS is issued; the rest is due at or before enrolment.

    Accommodation and living costs

    Leeds Conservatoire's own hall, Joseph Stones House, sits above its St Peter's Square building and has 152 en-suite bedrooms in shared flats, plus a few studios. Students can also rent private halls, shared houses and flats across Leeds. The page we opened gives no rent figures.

    What does Leeds Conservatoire cost for Indian students?

    For 2027 entry, international fees are £21,700 a year for BA music degrees, £22,150 for BA drama degrees, £21,400 for most MAs and £15,400 for MA Directing, Dramaturgy, Musical Direction and Musical Theatre Writing.

    Can I work or stay on after University Centre Leeds?

    Not at present. University Centre Leeds is a probationary sponsor, so its Student visa holders cannot do paid work and cannot apply for the Graduate route.

    Are there scholarships?

    Yes. Leeds Conservatoire offers £5,000 Principal's Scholarships and Excellence Scholarships of £1,000 to £7,500. University Centre Leeds gives eligible international students £3,000 off each year.
