About the university

The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) was set up in 1898 and says it was the first institution in the world dedicated to research and teaching in tropical medicine. Today it teaches postgraduate students on one-year master's degrees such as the Master of Public Health (Global Health), MSc Humanitarian Action and MSc One Health in Tropical and Infectious Disease, an MRes, research degrees and short professional diplomas, several of them online.

Indian doctors, nurses, public health graduates and life scientists look at LSTM for its specialist focus on infectious disease and global health. It accepts a CBSE or CISCE Class 12 English mark of 70% as proof of English, and it has run a scholarship for Indian applicants. LSTM is in Liverpool's Knowledge Quarter near the city centre, and Liverpool is known as one of the more affordable UK student cities.
