About the university

Harper Adams University in Shropshire is a specialist university for food production and technology, animal health and welfare, land management and the environment. It opened as Harper Adams College in 1901 and runs a 494-hectare working farm next to the campus. A newer site in Telford teaches digital courses in data science, robotics and business.

The university is known for career outcomes. It says it has been No. 1 in the UK for career prospects in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards from 2016 to 2025, and it holds a TEF Gold rating. Most bachelor's degrees include a one-year industry placement.

For Indian students the main draws are agriculture, agri-business, food science and agricultural engineering, which few UK universities teach at this depth. International fees are a flat £17,160 a year for undergraduate degrees and £20,520 for most MSc courses (2026/27), and eligible students get an automatic Vice-Chancellor's International Award of £2,000 a year (undergraduate) or £5,000 (taught postgraduate).

The main campus is rural, about an hour from Birmingham, near the market town of Newport. Life is quieter and cheaper than in a big city, and first-year international students are guaranteed accommodation on campus.
