About the university
The University of Salamanca, founded in 1218, is one of the oldest universities in Europe and is often described as Spain's first higher education institution. It has about 30,000 students across 27 faculties and schools.
Its master's catalogue is broad in law, social sciences and area studies, such as Latin American and East Asian studies, and it also runs master's in computing, cyber security, AI, engineering and data science. Its Cursos Internacionales arm offers Spanish-language study for international visitors.
For Indian students the attraction is low public tuition: about €1,572 for a 60-credit master's at 2025–26 prices. But almost every master's is taught in Spanish, and several technical ones ask non-native speakers for Spanish at B2 or even C1. It suits students who already speak Spanish or plan to learn it seriously first.
Salamanca is a historic university city in Castilla y León, and the university runs its own historic halls of residence.
