About the university
Les Roches is a Swiss hospitality school founded in 1954 in the Alpine village of Bluche, near Crans-Montana. It opened its Spanish campus in Marbella, on the Costa del Sol, in 1995. Both belong to Sommet Education, the group that also owns Glion Institute of Higher Education. The Marbella campus is a residential campus where most students live and eat on site.
The school's programmes are built around the hotel and luxury industries. The main undergraduate degree is a Bachelor's in Global Hospitality Management, which mixes practical training in kitchens, restaurants and front office with business and finance modules, and includes two internships. Marbella also offers a Bachelor's in Sports Business Management, Master of Science programmes in International Hotel Management, Luxury Tourism Marketing Management and Sports and Events Management (each about nine months on campus plus a 20-week internship or thesis), and an MBA in International Hotel Management.
Les Roches focuses heavily on employability: it runs career days with international hotel, luxury and events brands, and reports that 98% of job-seeking graduates receive an offer straight away. These are the school's own figures; the industry is international, so many graduates work in Dubai, Switzerland, the UK or Asia rather than in Spain. A recent alumni survey by the school found that just over half of alumni still work in hospitality, with the rest in fields such as luxury retail, real estate, consulting and events.
For Indian students Les Roches suits those set on a hospitality or luxury career who want hands-on training and a strong alumni network. It is a premium private school: total costs, including on-campus accommodation and meals, are high, and fees are published in a downloadable PDF rather than on the course pages. Ask for the current fee sheet before you apply, and check how internships fit with the Spanish student visa.
