About the university
NorthTec, or NorthTec Tai Tokerau Wānanga, is a public institute of technology in Northland, New Zealand, and describes itself as the region's largest provider of tertiary and vocational education. Its main campus is in Whangārei, with study also offered in Kaitaia and Ngāwhā and online.
NorthTec's courses range from nursing, sport and social work degrees to diplomas in engineering, construction, environmental management and business, plus trades and short courses.
NorthTec has an international section with a prospectus and student guide for Whangārei. However, the programme pages we checked in October 2026, including the Bachelor of Nursing and the engineering and construction diplomas, say the programme is not open to international students. Indian students should confirm with NorthTec which programmes, if any, are open to them for 2027.
