About the university
The Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) is a public institute of technology on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island. Its main campus is in Napier in Hawke's Bay, with another campus in Gisborne (Tairāwhiti) and an Auckland campus for postgraduate study. It merged with Tairāwhiti Polytechnic in 2010 and offers about 130 programmes.
EIT is known for practical degrees in nursing, computing, business, viticulture and wine science, and for applied postgraduate programmes in management, digital business, logistics, IT and health science.
Indian students mostly choose EIT's postgraduate diplomas and 18-month master's, which start four times a year in Napier and Auckland. The 2027 fee matrix shows lower 'net' fees after an EIT scholarship on most programmes, for example NZ$39,000 instead of NZ$42,000 for an 18-month master's.
Napier is a small coastal city known for its Art Deco architecture and the Hawke's Bay wine region. Living costs are lower than in Auckland, while the Auckland campus suits students who want to be in New Zealand's largest job market.
