About the university
HAN University of Applied Sciences is a public university of applied sciences with campuses in Arnhem and Nijmegen, two neighbouring cities in the east of the Netherlands. Its teaching is practice-based, with projects, internships and graduation assignments at companies.
HAN runs a focused set of English-taught degrees: International Business and Communication, International Social Work, engineering bachelor's (Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic, and Embedded Systems Engineering) in Arnhem, and chemistry and life sciences programmes in Nijmegen. Its master's include Engineering Systems with tracks in Automotive Systems, Cyber-Physical Systems and Sustainable Energy, and a one-year master's in Circular Economy.
For Indian students, HAN stands out for moderate fees (from €9,320 a year), a February intake for some programmes and generous scholarships: the HAN NL Scholarship can be worth up to €12,500 over a bachelor's. Its automotive and embedded engineering programmes also attract engineering students.
Arnhem and Nijmegen are mid-sized student cities near the German border, cheaper than the Randstad. HAN estimates about €1,000 to €1,200 a month for living costs.
