About University of Malta
The University of Malta grew out of the Collegium Melitense, a Jesuit college founded in Valletta in 1592, and is Malta's only public university. Today almost all teaching takes place on a large, modern campus at Msida, a short bus ride from Valletta, with smaller campuses in Valletta, Marsaxlokk and on the island of Gozo.
UM is a comprehensive university with fourteen faculties, from medicine and law to ICT, engineering, economics and management, and arts. Courses are taught in English, a big practical advantage for Indian students, and Malta's EU membership means degrees follow the European credit (ECTS) system. Its strengths for international students include ICT and artificial intelligence, digital games, banking and finance (linked to Malta's financial-services sector) and tourism.
