About the university

Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest (TUS) was formed in 2021 by merging Athlone Institute of Technology and Limerick Institute of Technology. It has seven campuses across the Midlands and Midwest of Ireland, with its two main bases at Moylish in Limerick and in Athlone.

TUS teaches practical, career-focused courses in computing, engineering, business, pharmaceutical science, health, sport and creative subjects. Its one-year master's courses in data analytics, software design, business analytics and pharmaceutical regulatory affairs are the ones Indian students ask about most.

For Indian students the draw is lower fees than Dublin universities: most computing and engineering master's courses cost €17,500 a year for non-EU students in 2027/28, and TUS publishes merit scholarships of up to €4,000. It also sets clear entry rules for Indian degrees, including some three-year degrees.

Limerick is Ireland's third-largest city, on the River Shannon, Athlone is a smaller town in the centre of Ireland. Both are cheaper to live in than Dublin.
