About the university

The University of Münster was founded in 1780 and has about 42,500 students, 15 faculties and over 280 degree programmes. It is a public university, so most programmes charge no tuition fee, only a semester fee of €369.50 that includes a Germany-wide transport ticket.

Its research includes the Mathematics Münster cluster and the Institute for Geoinformatics. English-taught master's include Economics, Business Administration, Business Development, Geoinformatics and Spatial Data Science, Business Chemistry and Physics.

For Indian students, the draws are a strong QS ranking for a tuition-free university and English-taught master's in business, economics and geodata. Entry is competitive: the business master's ask for C1 English (IELTS 7.0), and Economics asks non-EU applicants for a GRE score.

Housing in Münster is scarce. The university has no dormitories of its own, so students rent from the Studierendenwerk Münster, private halls or shared flats, and should start looking several months ahead.
