About the university
TU Braunschweig began in 1745 as the Collegium Carolinum, which makes it one of the oldest technical universities in Germany. It is a member of TU9, the alliance of leading German technical universities, and has six faculties covering engineering, natural sciences, computer science, architecture, life sciences and humanities.
Its programme list runs from aerospace and mechanical engineering to electrical engineering, computer science and the life sciences. Most programmes are taught in German, but a small set of master's are fully in English: Data Science, Artificial Intelligence for Molecular Sciences, Quantum Technologies in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Solar System Physics.
For Indian students, the appeal is a TU9 degree with no tuition fee and a separate, earlier application window for non-EU applicants to English-taught master's. If you speak German, the range of engineering programmes is much wider.
Braunschweig is a city in Lower Saxony. The campus is in the inner city, with about 200 buildings across four sites. The university suggests budgeting at least about €1,100 a month.
