About the university

Leibniz University Hannover (LUH) dates from 1831 and is a public research university. LUH says it holds a leading international position in six key research areas. THE ranks it 351–375 in the world for 2027, with Engineering and Computer Science both at 201–250 in the 2026 subject tables.

Most LUH programmes are taught in German. The English-taught master's that suit Indian engineering graduates include the International MSc in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering (WATENV) and a double-degree MSc in Renewable Energy and Electrical Power Engineering with LUT University in Finland. The popular MSc Computer Science is taught mostly in English, but LUH also asks for German at C1 level.

LUH charges no tuition fee, only a semester contribution of about €440. DAAD's entries for LUH estimate living costs of about €965–1,106 a month.

The English-taught programmes ask for C1 English (for example IELTS 7.0), which is higher than many German master's, so plan your test early.
