About the university
Frederick University grew out of the Frederick Institute of Technology, founded in 1965, and was licensed as a private university by the Cypriot government in 2007. It has campuses in Nicosia, the capital, and Limassol, the island's business hub, with five schools covering engineering, business and law, arts and design, education and social sciences, and health sciences.
Engineering is Frederick's traditional strength. It offers bachelor's degrees in civil, mechanical, electrical, computer and automotive engineering and computer science, all taught in English, and English-taught master's in structural, electrical, energy and marine engineering. Its business school teaches business administration, accounting and maritime studies, which suits Limassol's large shipping industry.
The university is research-active, with more than 35 research units, and reports first place in Cyprus in the Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026. It does not publish a position in the QS or THE world rankings on its site, so judge it by its programmes, accreditation and fees rather than by global rank.
For Indian students, Frederick is one of the cheaper English-taught options in Cyprus: about €9,450–€9,600 a year for business or engineering bachelor's degrees and €9,000 in total for an 18-month master's such as the MBA. Many programmes, though, are taught in Greek (Physiotherapy, for example), so always check the language on the programme page. EU and non-EU students pay the same fees.

Campus and location
Frederick teaches in two cities. Nicosia is the capital and the seat of government, with several universities. Limassol is a coastal city and Cyprus's business centre for shipping, technology and finance, which makes it a natural base for the maritime and shipping programmes.
- Nicosia campus in the Pallouriotissa area, with engineering labs and the new Platonos student residences close by.
- Limassol campus, with rooms reserved for Frederick students at Apollonia Student Halls.
- More than 35 research units, with strong links to industry in engineering and energy.
- The International Student Office helps with visas, residence permits, renewals and health insurance.
Careers and graduate outcomes
Frederick's engineering and computer science graduates can register with the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK), which many Cypriot employers expect. Limassol's shipping cluster is a natural employer for maritime and shipping graduates. Non-EU students can work part time after six months, up to 20 hours a week in term and 38 in breaks, and postgraduate graduates can work for up to 12 months in a related field.

FAQs
Are Frederick's programmes taught in English?
Many are, including Computer Science, all the engineering bachelor's degrees, Business Administration, Accounting and Finance, Maritime Studies and most engineering and business master's. Some health and education programmes, such as Physiotherapy, are taught in Greek. The programme page states the language.
What are the fees for 2026–27?
Engineering and computer science bachelor's degrees cost €9,600 a year, business and accounting €9,450, and design €8,970. Most master's cost €9,000 in total. Add a €110 semester fee and, for non-EU students, a one-off €200 visa fee.
What English score do I need?
IELTS 5.0, TOEFL iBT 71 or PTE Academic 58, among other B1-level certificates. This is lower than at many universities, but you should be comfortable studying in English.
How much money must I show for the visa?
For the entry permit, an attested bank statement showing at least €7,000 and a sponsor letter. After arrival, a statement showing at least €1,000 is also part of the residence permit file.
Nicosia or Limassol?
Check where your programme is taught. Nicosia is cheaper for housing; Limassol has more shipping, tech and finance employers but the highest rents in Cyprus.
