About the university

The Cyprus University of Technology (CUT), known locally as Tepak, is a young public university founded in 2004. It opened to students in 2007 to offer subjects not covered by the University of Cyprus, such as engineering and technology, health sciences, communication and media, fine and applied arts, agricultural science, management and shipping, and hotel and tourism management.

CUT is research-active for its size, with around 3,000 students. It is in the 501–550 band of the THE World University Rankings 2027 and the 701–710 band of the QS World University Rankings 2027, and it belongs to EUt+, a European alliance of technology universities that runs joint courses and exchanges.

Unlike most Cypriot universities that recruit Indian students, CUT teaches mainly in Greek. Its bachelor's degrees and most master's degrees need Greek. The English-taught options are a short list of master's degrees, including the Master in Public Health at the Cyprus International Institute for Environmental and Public Health, design and digital marketing degrees, a joint MSc in Electronic Science and Technology with Hangzhou Dianzi University in China, and a blended Chemical Engineering master's.

CUT is a city-centre university: its buildings are spread across the old town of Limassol, close to the seafront, with some teaching in Paphos. Limassol is the busiest business city in Cyprus, home to shipping, technology and fintech firms, but it is also the most expensive place on the island to rent a flat.
