About the university
The University of Guelph is a public research university in Guelph, Ontario, about 100 km west of Toronto. It was founded in 1964 from older agricultural and veterinary colleges and has more than 1,900 international students from over 140 countries.
Guelph is known for agriculture, food science, veterinary medicine and life sciences, and also teaches computer science, software engineering, engineering and business through the Lang School. Most computing and engineering degrees are five-year co-op programmes with five work terms.
Indian students look at Guelph for its guaranteed entrance scholarships (CAD 32,500–42,500 over four years for averages of 70% and above), co-op degrees and the one-year Master of Data Science. Tuition is high, especially for computing (CAD 58,807) and engineering (CAD 66,099), so the scholarship makes a large difference.
Guelph is a safe, mid-sized university city with lower rents than Toronto and GO train links to the city.
