About the university

The Michener Institute of Education at UHN is a specialist applied health sciences school in downtown Toronto. It began in 1958 as a medical laboratory technology programme at Toronto General Hospital, took the Michener name in 1990 and integrated with University Health Network (UHN) in 2016. It describes itself as a school within a hospital.

Michener welcomes international students to all its full-time programmes, though places for them are limited. For Indian students, the main options are three-year advanced diplomas in medical laboratory sciences and respiratory therapy after Class 12, and degree-entry advanced diplomas in genetics technology and diagnostic cytology for science graduates. Admission is competitive and several programmes use the Casper test. Michener's pages do not describe student housing, so plan to rent privately in Toronto.
