About the university
Laurentian University is a public university in Sudbury, northern Ontario, which teaches in both English and French and has a tricultural (anglophone, francophone and Indigenous) mandate. It offers bachelor's, master's and PhD programmes and is known for mining engineering, earth sciences, sports administration and health programmes. Its history page records a NASA tracking station on campus in the 1960s and Canada's early Sports Administration programme from 1972.
Indian students look at Laurentian for computer science, engineering (mechanical, mining and chemical), business administration, nursing and its MBA and course-based master's degrees. Entry from India asks for 50% in Class 12 with the right subjects, and international undergraduates with 80% or more get automatic scholarships of CAD 10,000 to 15,000 a year. Sudbury is a mid-sized mining city with lakes, about four hours north of Toronto, and living costs are lower than in big Ontario cities.
