About the university
Langara College is a public college in south Vancouver. Its West 49th Avenue campus opened in 1970 and it became an independent public institution in 1994. It teaches more than 16,000 students a year, and its name in the Musqueam language, snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓, means "house of teachings".
Langara is best known for university transfer: students take first- and second-year courses whose credits transfer to universities across British Columbia and beyond. It also offers two-year diplomas, a few bachelor's degrees and post-degree diplomas for students who already hold a degree.
Indian graduates mostly look at the Post-Degree Diploma in Data Analytics, which is open to international students and has a work-experience version. Langara has suspended new applications to several popular programmes, including the BBA and the post-degree diplomas in business administration and accounting, so check each programme page before applying.
Vancouver is one of Canada's most expensive cities for rent. Langara has no residence, so most international students live in homestays or shared rentals.

International Regional Entrance Scholarship
Value: CAD 7,500 (CAD 5,000 in the first term, the rest as a second-term tuition credit)
Eligibility: New full fee-paying international students from listed regions, including South Asia, with an 80% average from school or a completed degree abroad. Keep a 2.67 CGPA for the second-term credit. Deadlines: 30 November 2026 (Summer 2027) and 31 March 2027 (Fall 2027).

Academic Success in a Post-Degree Certificate or Diploma

Eligibility: Automatically given to the full-time international student with the highest CGPA in the first term of a post-degree programme who continues to the second term.

Admission requirements
Undergraduate
- Secondary school completion (Class 12 from CBSE, CISCE or a state board) for regular studies; some programmes need specific subjects such as mathematics.
- Langara sorts programmes into three English categories; Category 2 and 3 programmes accept IELTS, PTE, TOEFL, Duolingo or CAEL scores.
- Application fee: CAD 155 (non-refundable).
- First-term deposit: CAD 6,000 if accepted for Spring 2027 or earlier; CAD 9,000 if accepted for Summer 2027 or later. Refundable only with a study permit refusal.
Postgraduate
- Post-Degree Diploma in Data Analytics: a bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus at least a C (60%) in a post-secondary mathematics or calculus course. Admission is competitive.
- Applications to the post-degree diplomas in Business Administration and Accounting, and to the BBA, are suspended until further notice.

Accommodation and living costs
Langara has no on-campus residence. It runs a homestay programme with local families and points students to shared rentals. Langara's international budget page uses 2021-22 figures, so treat them as a rough guide; Vancouver rents have risen since.

Langara has a single campus on West 49th Avenue in south Vancouver, on the unceded territory of the Musqueam First Nation. Student fees include a U-Pass for TransLink buses and SkyTrain.

FAQs
How much does Langara cost for an Indian student?
Langara charges CAD 676.96 per credit in 2026 for regular studies (CAD 638.64 for Data Analytics). A full-time year of 30 credits costs about CAD 19,200–20,300 in tuition. Langara estimates about CAD 22,760 for a first year with fees and books.
Is the Data Analytics post-degree diploma open to Indian students?
Yes. It is open to international students, with January and September intakes. You need a bachelor's degree and at least a C in a post-secondary maths or calculus course.
Which Langara programmes are closed?
When we checked, new applications were suspended for the BBA and for the post-degree diplomas in Business Administration and Accounting. Always check the programme page for the current status.
What IELTS score does Langara need?
6.5 overall for most programmes; Category 2 programmes, such as Data Analytics, also need no band below 6.0. PTE 56 and Duolingo 110 are accepted. There is no published Class 12 English waiver for India.
Can I get a scholarship at Langara?
