About the university

The École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) is a public engineering school in Montreal, founded in 1974 and part of the Université du Québec network. It has about 11,000 students and trains a quarter of Quebec's engineers. Its bachelor's degrees in engineering are built around compulsory paid co-op terms, and its Centech incubator supports start-ups.

Teaching is mainly in French. Indian students mostly look at ÉTS for its research master's (M.A.Sc.) in software engineering and information technology engineering: these can be taken in French or English, and admission can be based on English if a professor agrees to supervise your thesis. Course-based M.Eng. degrees and all bachelor's degrees are taught in French.

International tuition for 2026–2027 averages CAD 38,950 a year for a bachelor's (including co-op credits), CAD 28,920 for an M.Eng. and CAD 21,080 for an M.A.Sc. Full-time PhD students are exempted from the international supplement.
