About the university

City University in Canada (CityU) is a private university that has offered programmes in Canada since 1984. It teaches at small campuses in Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary and Edmonton and online. It focuses on master's degrees in counselling, counselling psychology and education leadership, often taught in cohorts for working adults.

International students can take only some routes: the Master of Counselling in BC, the Master of Counselling Psychology in weekday cohorts in Calgary and Edmonton, and the MEd in Education in Leadership in person in Calgary. The MEd in School Counselling is not open to international students. Tuition is CA$800 per credit in 2026-2027. CityU says graduates of these international routes can apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit, but IRCC sets the rules; see our Canada guide.
