About the university
Algoma University is a public university in Ontario. It began in 1965 as Algoma College in Sault Ste. Marie and became an independent university in 2008. Its main campus sits on the site of the former Shingwauk Residential School, and it has campuses in downtown Brampton (opened 2009) and Timmins.
Algoma offers more than 30 undergraduate programmes and a growing group of master's degrees, mostly in computer science, business and analytics. Its Brampton campus, in the Greater Toronto Area, runs accelerated business and computer science options.
Indian students look at Algoma for its course-based Master of Computer Science (12 or 16 months), the 16-month MSc in Business Analytics and a four-year Bachelor of Computer Science with co-op. Graduate entry accepts a three-year Indian degree only from a NAAC A-accredited institution.
Sault Ste. Marie is a small city on the US border, with residence on campus. Brampton is a large city in the Greater Toronto Area; Algoma does not list residence fees there.
