About the university
The University of Western Australia (UWA) was founded in 1911 and is the oldest university in Western Australia. It is a member of the Group of Eight research universities. It is ranked joint 77th in the world by QS and joint 173rd by Times Higher Education in 2027.
UWA is known for engineering, science, data science, business and health. Its Master of Professional Engineering offers nine specialisations, from software and mining to biomedical engineering, and its business school runs master's degrees in commerce, accounting and business analytics.
Indian students look at UWA for its Group of Eight standing and its scholarships: India is on the list for the automatic 10% International Student Award, and strong applicants can instead receive the Global Excellence Scholarship of up to 20%. Postgraduate fees for popular courses are about A$54,000 to A$56,000 a year.
The Crawley campus sits on the Swan River a few minutes from Perth's city centre. Perth is Australia's main city on the west coast, with a mining and resources economy and a time difference of only 2 hours 30 minutes from India.

Admission requirements
Undergraduate
- UWA assesses the Indian Class 12 against its Australian ATAR equivalents. The Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) list a minimum ATAR of 80.
- Engineering needs Mathematics Methods (a scaled score of 50) plus chemistry, physics or specialist mathematics; UWA lets you make up a missing subject with first-year electives.
- UWA College runs foundation and diploma pathways if you are below the direct-entry score.
- Check your board's equivalent score with UWA or an authorised representative before you apply.
Postgraduate
- Most master's degrees need a recognised bachelor's degree with the equivalent of a UWA weighted average mark (WAM) of 60% (business, commerce, accounting, public health) or 65% (IT, data science, professional engineering).
- The Master of Data Science also needs Mathematics Methods at school level or equivalent.
- The Master of Business Analytics needs a degree with at least one statistics unit or a strong quantitative component.
- Course length often depends on your previous study: 1.5 or 2 years for most master's degrees and 2 to 3 years for professional engineering.

- Valid passport
- Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets (bachelor's)
- Degree transcripts and certificate (master's)
