About the university

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is a public university in Brisbane, the capital of Queensland. It became a university in 1989 and is known for practical, industry-linked teaching. It is ranked 240th in the world by QS and joint 222nd by Times Higher Education in 2027.

QUT is known for information technology, engineering, business, design, health and creative industries. Its 2027 Year 12 guide for international students cites QS subject rankings that put it first in Queensland for media and communication and for art and design.

Indian students choose QUT for its IT, data science, AI and cyber security master's degrees, its engineering programmes and its central Brisbane location. International applicants are considered automatically for a 25% Merit Scholarship or a 20% Talent Scholarship, depending on their results.

Gardens Point is in the city centre beside the Brisbane River and the City Botanic Gardens, and Kelvin Grove, a short shuttle ride away, hosts health, education and creative courses. Brisbane has a warm climate and is usually cheaper to live in than Sydney.
