About the university

Melbourne Institute of Technology (MIT) is a private higher education institute with city-centre campuses in Melbourne and Sydney. It is not a university, but it is one of a small group of institutes that TEQSA allows to accredit their own bachelor's and master's degrees. It should not be confused with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the USA.

MIT teaches a focused range of subjects: networking, cyber security, data analytics, AI and machine learning, business and accounting. Its programs are recognised by professional bodies such as the Australian Computer Society and CPA Australia.

Indian students choose MIT mainly for cost. A 2027 Master of Networking costs A$12,000 per trimester, about A$24,000 a year, which is well below most Australian universities. Classes are in the CBD, and there are three intakes a year.

Because MIT is not ranked in world university tables, compare it with universities on course content, campus facilities and your career plans, not on fees alone.
